The school is affiliated with the Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA). In accordance with the Education (Pre-primary, Primary and Post-Primary) Act, 2008, Sections 58 and 59, Part II(a), the Foundation Body nominates five (5) members to serve on the Board of Governors, one of whom is appointed as the Chairperson. The current Chairperson of the Board of Governors, representing the Foundation Body, is Ratibu Saidi Abdullahi.
Governance of the school is provided by a 12-member Board of Governors, which consists of:
Five (5) foundation body representatives;
Two (2) staff representatives;
Two (2) parents' representatives;
One (1) representative of the Old Students' Association;
One (1) representative of the Local Council V; and
One (1) representative of the Local Council III.
The Foundation Body of Yumbe Secondary School serves as the cornerstone of the institution’s governance and long-term sustainability. It is composed of dedicated individuals committed to safeguarding the school’s mission, values, and strategic direction. Through effective leadership and oversight, the foundation ensures that all academic, administrative, and developmental activities align with the vision of providing quality education. It also plays a critical role in fostering partnerships, mobilizing resources, and guiding continuous improvement within the school.
